The first cohort of the Baby Boom, born during the increase in births between the end of the Second World War and the mid-1950s, is now over 65 years of age, is mostly retired from work, and, according to the demographic statistics, are included in the older population. International literature is increasingly concerned with Baby Boomers because they are characterized by a distinctive generational link, which, especially in Italy, refers to their youth experiences during the '68 and period of terrorism during the 70s and early 80s. This generation was the first to rethink youth as a political subject, as well, breaking with tradition, they had a profound cultural impact on contemporary society. The Boomers, even today, having reached the threshold of old age, are progressively changing the typical canons of aging both from the point of view of health conditions and on the social and cultural dimensions. The Boomers are increasingly represented as epigones of active and healthy aging and have long been at the center of attention of the Silver economy for their consumption trends, their needs for cultural use, and their frequent social commitment. More recently they have also been addressed by intergenerational criticism, especially by those who see them as an age group endowed with privileges and economic guarantees, representing a socio-welfare cost on the shoulders of the younger generations. The volume seeks to investigate the generational link and the characteristics of values, attitudes, and behavior, deepening their socio-economic conditions, lifestyles, cultural consumption and enjoyment, and, above all, the heterogeneous reality behind the representations generated by narrative processes and social construction about the Boomers' generation.

Abstract
The volume seeks to investigate the generational link and the characteristics of values, attitudes, and behavior, deepening their socio-economic conditions, lifestyles, cultural consumption and enjoyment, and, above all, the heterogeneous reality behind the representations generated by narrative processes and social construction about the Boomers' generation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
