This study aims to analyse some special problems that regard comprehension and translation of not lexicalised German compound occasionalisms. Some ambiguities in semantic interpretation of the relationship of constituents in compound nouns will be discussed, as well as transparency of translated expressions based on correct contextualisation of the corresponding terms in the source text. A further topic of the paper is the semantic redundancy of constituents that is typical for German compound nouns and that often can be reduced or even eliminated in translation. Target of the study is to put forward some considerations how to exercise these issues with students in translation classes in abroad university teaching of German as a foreign language and to provide some indications for developing teaching materials in this field.

Abstract
This study aims to analyse some special problems that regard comprehension and translation of not lexicalised German compound occasionalisms. Some ambiguities in semantic interpretation of the relationship of constituents in compound nouns will be discussed, as well as transparency of translated expressions based on correct contextualisation of the corresponding terms in the source text. A further topic of the paper is the semantic redundancy of constituents that is typical for German compound nouns and that often can be reduced or even eliminated in translation. Target of the study is to put forward some considerations how to exercise these issues with students in translation classes in abroad university teaching of German as a foreign language and to provide some indications for developing teaching materials in this field.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
