The essay focuses on the figure of Jean D’Espagnet (1564-ca.1638), President of the Bordeaux Parliament, through the analysis of his Institution du jeune prince published in 1616 and dedicated to the young Louis XIII. This allows us to shed a better light on D'Espagnet's thought, well known on the side of hermetic studies but much less on that of political ideas. His institutio principis turns out to be an interesting example of that peculiar connection which, between the 16th and 17th centuries, was established between civil science or political science, natural science and magical-hermetic science.

Abstract
The essay focuses on the figure of Jean D’Espagnet (1564-ca.1638), President of the Bordeaux Parliament, through the analysis of his Institution du jeune prince published in 1616 and dedicated to the young Louis XIII. This allows us to shed a better light on D'Espagnet's thought, well known on the side of hermetic studies but much less on that of political ideas. His institutio principis turns out to be an interesting example of that peculiar connection which, between the 16th and 17th centuries, was established between civil science or political science, natural science and magical-hermetic science.File in questo prodotto:
