The paper aims to highlight the metaphorical isotopies present in the specialised terminology of biology and their importance in the elaboration of a vision of the domain, with particular attention to the strategies of interlinguistic transposition of such metaphors in the activity of the ‘dispositif d'enrichissement de la langue française’. The 2017 edition of the ‘Vocabulaire de la biologie’ will be analysed for this purpose.
