The paper, through the discussion of the characteristics of the Common lands in the Basque Country and the historical-archaeological research carried out there, aims at reflect on the criticism of the current processes of heritagisation of mountain, and mainly collective, areas, on the inner social dimension of common-lands and on the necessity to consider the local dimension of their management, as well as their history.

Abstract
