During the last decades, the institutional discourse in the field of higher edu-cation in Europe has undergone a remarkable transformation process, aiming at the application of a homogeneous model of quality assurance to University education. National evaluation agencies have increasingly applied ISO quality assurance criteria to educational programming, and this application has gener-ated an increasingly uniform discourse at the international level, focused on the concept of ‘quality’. A fundamental text in this evolution is the ESG Standards and Guidelines document of ENQA agency, translated in different forms by dif-ferent stakeholders in several languages. Our contribution aims at analysing the French and Italian versions of this document, in order to identify the strategies exploited in order to transpose the concept of quality (with its ideological scope).
