In this study I will focus on the analysis of readers’ reactions to two articles published online by two national dailies in France and Italy (Le Figaro and La Repub-blica), respectively on January 16 and 17, 2017, which deal with the use of French and Italian language by politicians. I will move to the contrastive analysis of readers’ comments (383 for Le Figaro, 389 for La Repubblica) with the aim of observe, first, the divergences and convergences between Italian and French speakers in relation to the linguistic norm, and then the possible evolutions of the ordinary metalinguistic discourse circulating in a “space” characterized by the blurring of the boundaries between profane linguistic and scholarly discourse and through changes in the relationship between journalists and read-ers (Calabrese, 2014; Calabrese and Rosier, 2016

Dans cette étude je me pencherai sur l’analyse des réactions des lecteurs de deux articles publiés en ligne par deux quotidiens nationaux en France et en Italie ( Le Figaro et La Repubblica), respectivement le 16 et le 17 janvier 2017, et qui portent sur l’usage de la langue, française et italienne, par les politiciens. Suite à la présentation de la place occupée par la « faute d’orthographe » et par l’emploi du subjonctif dans les imaginaires linguistiques des deux communautés linguistiques, je passerai à l’analyse contrastive des commentaires des lecteurs (383 pour Le Figaro, 389 pour La Repubblica) dans le but d’observer, d’abord, les divergences et les convergences entre locuteurs italiens et français par rapport à la norme linguistique et, ensuite, les évolutions éventuelles du discours métalinguistique ordinaire circulant dans un « espace » caractérisé par le brouillage des frontières entre discours linguistique profane et savant et par des changements au niveau de la relation entre journalistes et lecteurs (Calabrese, 2014 ; Calabrese et Rosier, 2016)
