The article explores the main techniques of accommodation of multinational diversities in the legislative institutions. These mechanisms can be subdivided into three categories: reserved seats; electoral affirmative actions; special legislative processes. However each measure creates tensions with the concept of liberal representation and with the principle of equality and hence their application must be carefully screened. The article examines the tensions between normative claims for and against recognition of special forms of accommodation.
