This article analyzes the racial imaginaries and the shifting of the color line generated within the migratory process. The analysis is based on a transnational ethnographic study about Dominican youth in Spain, carried out in the outskirts of Barcelona and Santo Domingo. The young Dominicans are considered whites, indios or mulattos in their society of origin and become blacks in the society of destination. The results of the research explore how Dominican youth discover in Spain the racialization process and the social significance of blackness.

Abstract
