Nuove forme di ricezione del Nibelungenlied e della materia nibelungica nel teatro tedesco contemporaneo: Unser Lied. Gesang vom Untergang Burgunds – Nibelungendestillat di Helmut Krausser e Die Nibelungen di Marc Pommerening

The artistically creative theatrical reception of the Nibelung story was given new impulse at the turn of the third millennium by a series of authors, who progressively detached themselves from the 19th-century dramatic interpretation of this tradition, went beyond the post-war fear of touching a subject, which had been widely used by the Nazi propaganda, updated and gave new forms to ancient stories and themes. Helmut Krausser’s Unser Lied. Gesang vom Untergang Burgunds – Nibelungendestillat and Marc Pommerening’s Die Nibelungen belong to the most interesting early 21st-century new interpretations of the Nibelung cycle. In this study, the two authors’ attitude towards both the Nibelung tradition and its reception will be analysed and contrasted paying particular attention to the thick web of intertextual relations and literary references, in which the main characters act and which includes not only the Nibelungenlied, but also the Middle Latin Waltharius.

Nuovo impulso alla ricezione artistico-creativa della materia nibelungica in forma drammaturgica viene dato, a cavallo del secondo e terzo millennio, da autori che si affrancano in misura sempre crescente dall’interpretazione teatrale data alla materia nel XIX secolo, superando il timore del periodo post-bellico di toccare l’argomento, dopo l’uso propagandistico del ‘mito’ nibelungico nella Germania nazista, e dando alle vicende note rinnovata attualità tramite nuove forme. Le opere di Krausser e Pommerening sono due delle più interessanti nuove interpretazioni della materia nibelungica dell’inizio del XXI secolo. In questo studio viene analizzato, in chiave comparativa, l’atteggiamento dei due autori verso la tradizione e la ricezione nibelungica, con particolare attenzione alla fitta rete di relazioni intertestuali e allusioni letterarie su cui si muovono i personaggi principali e che coinvolge, oltre al Nibelungenlied, anche il Waltharius medio latino.
