Microarchitecture or macrodesign? Temporary Italian design for emergency

The essay, included in the critical lectures, deals with the theme of temporary emergency housing, and the multiplicity of reasons that can determine it. The essay investigates how the theme in a disruptive way for its time and excellent in the design results achieved, has been treated by Italian designers, architects, gifted of a particular vision for history, constitution, or case. Through the observation of temporary housing solutions designed by Marco Zanuso, (with his 1971 Emergency Unit) Alberto Rosselli (with Mobile Home curated in 1972 with Isao Hosoe) Pierluigi Spadolini (with the 1983 MAPI housing modules) but even Ettore Sottsass (with his Ambiente modules studied in 1972) the wish is to recall considerations and insights, considered today as necessary.

Lo scritto, inserito nella sezione letture critiche, tratta il tema dell’abitare temporaneo in emergenza, e dei molteplici motivi che possano determinarlo. Il saggio indaga come il tema in maniera dirompente, per il tempo, ed eccellente, nei risultati progettuali raggiunti, sia stato trattato dai progettisti italiani, architetti designer, con una visone particolare per storia, costituzione o ‘caso’. Attraverso l’osservazione dei progetti delle soluzioni abitative temporanee disegnate da Marco Zanuso, con la sua Unità d’emergenza del 1971, Alberto Rosselli, con Ambiente mobile curato nel 1972 con Isao Hosoe, Pierluigi Spadolini, con i moduli abitativi MAPI del 1983, ma anche il sistema Ambiente studiato da Ettore Sottsass nel 1972, si desidera richiamare considerazioni e approfondimenti, ritenuti oggi necessari.
