Primary prevention of distress in children is of great importance mainly in regards of the need to promote and experiment intervention models that take into account the integration of services for family support. The paper outlines the scenario in which the role of the pediatrician could be relevant in the articulation process between social and health issues within a family centered process of care. This could promote a greater involvement of parents through an alliance between families and community services of education and care, especially in most fragile family environments
