The review of CIL XI, 1325 shows how the freedman Philodamus, who offered an ex-voto to an unidentified deity, perhaps Luna, doesn’t belong to the gens Honoria, as scholars have thought until now, but to the gens Hortoria. Another freedman of the same gens is probably mentioned at Luni in the stamp upon some fistulae aquariae (cf. CIL XI, 6988), where the nomen is presented in abbreviated form. Although the name Philodamus is also in another small marble base from Luni and may perhaps be supplied in a still unpublished inscription mentioning likely the goddess Luna, there is no evidence which identifies one or both of these persons with the freedman of CIL XI, 1325.
