Starting from Baudry’s thought, the paper focuses on the main stages in Film Studies that dealt with the problem of the connection between cinema, mental processes and ideology. Coming nowadays, the essay compares Post Theory studies, which reject ideology in film’s debate, and the new lacanians, which even now find in cinema the realization of the contemporary ideological thought.
