The article expands on the key points of the role of the teacher, concentrating on the theme of motivation as the ‘cornerstone’ of a profession which is experiencing its crisis points. In the light of the most recent studies, the focal point emerging touches upon renewing the personal, deeper slant towards teaching so as to achieve optimal and personalized learning for pupils and to weave once again genuine, fruitful relations amongst all interested parties in the school context, that is the refounding of an educational alliance paving the way for human emancipation.
