Aleksander Wat’s Metaphysical- and Identity Transformations in “the Spoken Diary” My Century The article deals with prison intended as a chronotope, in whose frames are concentrated the existential metamorphosis of the author, one of the most outstanding European intellectuals of the XX century. In My Century Wat delineates his own Polish-Jewish identity in the encounter with inmates of different nationalities; on the same time, the prison’s cell is the place where the most moving and radical metaphysical transformation of the author take place.
