Abstract

I reply to Ceva's and Carter's comments by recalling and clarifying three main purposes of my book on the Procedural principles of democracy: unveiling the anti-hierarchical logic that is distinctive of democratic institutions, stressing the deep connection between how citizens are represented in the public sphere and how they are treated as political agents, and providing a definition of pure procedural justice that accounts for the actual uses of the notion in the current literature.
