The study is a preliminary investigation about identity style and theory of mind in early adolescence and adolescence. The Identity Style Inventory and the Theory of Mind Assessment Scale were administered to 100 early adolescents and 100 adolescents. Results indicated that the females had higher Normative, Informative and Commitment scores than their male counterparts. Moreover, older students had better ability to estimate mental states in a simple way than younger, but they did not differ in the more complex perspective taking ability.
