This work – (Sprach-)Kritiker, Dichter und Denker. Die neue Generation Robert Schindel, Robert Menasse und Doron Rabinovici – looks at the different language socialization of these three post war ("nachgeborenen") authors, their integration into the Austrian literary landscape and, lastly, their socio-political relevance. Initially this comparison reveals many points in common between these writers, especially as regards their role as critics and thinkers. A comparison of these texts, which are similar in terms of content - they are all critical of the same things, namely current politics, the tendency towards a fascist mentality, resentment, never-ending repression - in method and manner, and thus also in their language, reveals much that is characteristic of each of these individuals. One comes to the conclusion that Doron Rabinovici, by virtue of his special language awareness, can be considered as the language critic of the three. Robert Schindel primarily chooses the form of poetry, and tends also in his prose to lyrical word creations, through which he often conveys socio-political criticism; he can thus be referred to as the poet. And Robert Menasse, with his clear, analytic, razor-sharp style and his preference for the essay as a form of literary expression, is the "thinker".
