Abstract

The paper presents a nonlinear monodimensional continuous model describing the static and dynamic response of an elastic suspended cable, including the effects of a uniform temperature variation. Parametric analyses illustrate how the temperature affects both the closed form solution of the cable static problem under self-weight load and the modal properties characterizing the linearized problem which governs the cable free undamped dynamics in the small oscillation range.
