In the report entitled "The Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress Revisited", edited by J. Stiglitz, Sen A., J.P. Fitoussi, the three experts bring under discussion the use of classic indicators of economic performance to ensure a valid address to our economic and social growth. They suggest a reflection about new indicators to better describe the social welfare that the economic changes can generate. Such general reflections find their practical application in the case of port cities. Hence the idea of developing a discussion on the relationship between economic performance and social progress in the port cities.

Abstract

In the report entitled "The Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress Revisited", edited by J. Stiglitz, Sen A., J.P. Fitoussi, the three experts bring under discussion the use of classic indicators of economic performance to ensure a valid address to our economic and social growth. They suggest a reflection about new indicators to better describe the social welfare that the economic changes can generate. Such general reflections find their practical application in the case of port cities. Hence the idea of developing a discussion on the relationship between economic performance and social progress in the port cities.
