Two versions of a hybrid genetic algorithm are proposed for the solution of the inverse scattering problems in NDE applications based on interrogating electromagnetic fields. A local search procedure is embedded in the main loop of the genetic algorithm to speed-up the convergence of the method. Some numerical results are presented to demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed approach.
