If after a certain time a control is made on subjects who have undergone an osteotomy, a peculiar anatomopathological alteration will be observed consisting of a lateral shortening of the neck of the femur and an increase of the angle of inclination and a subluxation of the head of the femur. For the authors the pathogeny of this lesion is due to an alteration of the proximal growth cartilage of the femur and to the resulting modification of the C-A angle, which is 125° in normal subjects. The balance of the pressures and tensions and, in particular, the displacement on to the external growth cartilage of the resultant 'R', caused by the frequent irregularity of the epiphyseal nucleus in congenital dislocation of the hip, are responsible for the morphological alterations of the hip
