This paper aims to analyse the representation of informal spoken Quebec French in québécois comics. After a brief overview of questions concerning the relationship between the oral and the written channel, as well as of those dealing with the debate on linguistic norm in Québec, we will analyse a set of comics – homogeneous as far as genre and publication date (2004-2012) are concerned – using as our starting point a study by Bigot (2011), in order to identify a certain number of linguistic features (mainly syntactical and phonetic) which are today perceived as non-marked in spoken French by Québécois speakers.

Abstract
This paper aims to analyse the representation of informal spoken Quebec French in québécois comics. After a brief overview of questions concerning the relationship between the oral and the written channel, as well as of those dealing with the debate on linguistic norm in Québec, we will analyse a set of comics – homogeneous as far as genre and publication date (2004-2012) are concerned – using as our starting point a study by Bigot (2011), in order to identify a certain number of linguistic features (mainly syntactical and phonetic) which are today perceived as non-marked in spoken French by Québécois speakers.File in questo prodotto:
