Human islet autotransplantation into the portal vein of patients with chronic pancreatitis submitted to near total pancreatectomy was first reported by Najarian, Sutherland, et al. The present report describes up-dated results of a similar method used in 10 patients with incapacitating and intractable pain due to chronic pancreatitis.
