Polycrystalline samples of HfFe6Ge6-type LuMn6Sn6-xInx compounds (0.08less than or equal toxless than or equal to0.48) have been studied by magnetisation, a.c. susceptibility and magnetoresistance measurements. The compounds order antiferromagnetically between T-N=391 K for x=0.08 to T-N=313 K for x=0.48. Field dependence of the magnetisation shows metamagnetic transitions without evidence of saturation. In addition, a first order transition characterized by a large hysteresis is observed for the LuMn6Sn5.66In0.34 compound. The magnetoresistance is rather weak, positive in LuMn6Sn5.92In0.08 (DeltaR/Rapproximate to6% at 10 K) and negative in LuMn6Sn5.66In0.34 (DeltaR/Rapproximate to-4.6% at 290 K). Results are discussed and compared with those of related series.
