The reliability determination for a complex plant is often a challenging tasks since the computational complexity involved is very hish. In the recent time several analytical approches have been presented but sometimes they cannot be applied since the approximation reqired are very far to be satisfied in reality. The paper propose a taxonomy of the analytical approches used for realiability estimation in complex system starting from a critical analysis of each presented methodology the authors present a simulation approach able to solve the problem ina a very proper way.
