The paper deals with the dynamic interaction of multiple delaminations in composite plates subject to out of plane loading. In order to develop a basic understanding of the problem, the work refers to the model system of a multiply delaminated plate deforming in cylindrical bending and subject to a time dependent load. Interaction effects on fracture parameters, dynamic crack growth and energy absorption are investigated. The analyses show that the energy absorption capability through multiple delamination of a homogeneous system is optimized when the delaminations are equally spaced through the thickness.

Abstract
The paper deals with the dynamic interaction of multiple delaminations in composite plates subject to out of plane loading. In order to develop a basic understanding of the problem, the work refers to the model system of a multiply delaminated plate deforming in cylindrical bending and subject to a time dependent load. Interaction effects on fracture parameters, dynamic crack growth and energy absorption are investigated. The analyses show that the energy absorption capability through multiple delamination of a homogeneous system is optimized when the delaminations are equally spaced through the thickness.File in questo prodotto:
