An equivalent circuit model for a transmission line illuminated by the field due to a lightning strike in the nearby is presented in this paper. Such model is derived by a line frequency domain analysis carried out with a full-Maxwell approach, which provides both the line impedance matrix and the open-circuit overvoltages induced by the lightning. A procedure based on the so-called vector fitting technique is then used to put these latter quantities into a form suitable for a circuit simulator. An example of application of the developed model into the commercial electromagnetic code PSCADEMTDC is finally proposed and discussed.

Abstract
An equivalent circuit model for a transmission line illuminated by the field due to a lightning strike in the nearby is presented in this paper. Such model is derived by a line frequency domain analysis carried out with a full-Maxwell approach, which provides both the line impedance matrix and the open-circuit overvoltages induced by the lightning. A procedure based on the so-called vector fitting technique is then used to put these latter quantities into a form suitable for a circuit simulator. An example of application of the developed model into the commercial electromagnetic code PSCADEMTDC is finally proposed and discussed.File in questo prodotto:
