A global optimization procedure for the electromagnetic detection of perfectly conducting elliptic cylinders is proposed. The method is based on an analytical solution for the forward-scattering computation. The problem is recast as an optimization problem by constructing a suitable functional, which is minimized by using an efficient memetic algorithm. The solution is validated by using real data obtained from a prototype of an imaging system based on the modulated scattering technique.

Abstract
A global optimization procedure for the electromagnetic detection of perfectly conducting elliptic cylinders is proposed. The method is based on an analytical solution for the forward-scattering computation. The problem is recast as an optimization problem by constructing a suitable functional, which is minimized by using an efficient memetic algorithm. The solution is validated by using real data obtained from a prototype of an imaging system based on the modulated scattering technique.File in questo prodotto:
