The present paper is aimed at analysing the strategic paths of airline companies, in order to understand recent trends and possible drivers. The evolution of aviation industry, boosted by external events such as globalisation and liberalisation/deregulation processes has, in fact, launched a “risiko of the skies”, that seems to have modified the traditional dichotomy between mergers and acquisitions and alliances. Therefore, the paper is focused to understand if the recent wave of corporate M&A among airlines is the first step of a concentration process dominated by this type of growing path, or, instead, it is only a cyclical phenomenon.

Abstract
The present paper is aimed at analysing the strategic paths of airline companies, in order to understand recent trends and possible drivers. The evolution of aviation industry, boosted by external events such as globalisation and liberalisation/deregulation processes has, in fact, launched a “risiko of the skies”, that seems to have modified the traditional dichotomy between mergers and acquisitions and alliances. Therefore, the paper is focused to understand if the recent wave of corporate M&A among airlines is the first step of a concentration process dominated by this type of growing path, or, instead, it is only a cyclical phenomenon.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
