Abstract

A slab from Halikarnassos's Mausoleum was preserved for about 3 centuries in the courtyard of a palace in Genoa. It was then part of the Di Negro's Collection and afterwards acquired by the British Museum. The only trace that the precious relief left on the local artistic tradition is constituted by the allegorical representations portrayed on the metopes (dated ca. 1635) placed above the portal of Spinola Palace of Via Canneto il Lungo , where the slab was kept.
