In this work the synthesis of metamaterial coatings is considered. The problem is stated for cylindrical structures with a conducting core. The problem is faced by means of an Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm which has been proven to be a promising tool to solve global optimization problems. Finally, preliminary results are provided to assess the proposed approach.
