The volume collects a series of es¬says, written by some of the greatest scholars of Renaissance architecture (among others: J.S. Ackerman. C.L. Frommel, M. Chatenet), on the villas of the Casa d’Este built between the 1400s and 1500s, the so-called «delights». These were palaces of proverbial magnificence (but at the same time centres of government and farming), destroyed by neglect and various demolitions, whose history and outstanding originality are recon¬structed here for the first time within the Italian and European context. The first part of the book aims to reconstruct the main European models of villa's architecture developed in the Renaissance. The second part of the book takes the stock of the system of court residences of the Este dynasty, not only from an architectural point of view, but also on the political and economic plane. Finally, the third part of the book focuses on the villas built by the Este dynasty out of the Duchy of Ferrara, in Rome and in Hungary.

Abstract
Finally, the third part of the book focuses on the villas built by the Este dynasty out of the Duchy of Ferrara, in Rome and in Hungary.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
