Social Bookmarking Systems are increasingly popular. The advantage of using such systems for searching is that the results reflect users point of view about resources. However, this global point of view does not necessarily matches the preferences of the user who searches. We propose an approach for bookmark-based search whose results are personalized according to the match between social parameters of users who search and of users who bookmark. As we do not have information about social parameters of users who bookmark, the preliminary step of the project is to acquire such information. To this aim, we use a mechanism of cross-systems identification and profiling, following and approach of user modeling interoperability.

Abstract

Social Bookmarking Systems are increasingly popular. The advantage of using such systems for searching is that the results reflect users point of view about resources. However, this global point of view does not necessarily matches the preferences of the user who searches. We propose an approach for bookmark-based search whose results are personalized according to the match between social parameters of users who search and of users who bookmark. As we do not have information about social parameters of users who bookmark, the preliminary step of the project is to acquire such information. To this aim, we use a mechanism of cross-systems identification and profiling, following and approach of user modeling interoperability.
