The paper investigates various processes of convergence occurring in different European languages. The languages of Europe have developed in last centuries several common elements both in morphology and syntax, as well as acquisition of a substantially unified intellectual lexicon. Among the characteristic features of the languages of Europe we remember the prevalence of complex sentence, with large use of subordination, and the aim to specificate in precise manner all relationships existing between the various members of the sentence, and the central importance of the verb.

Abstract

The paper investigates various processes of convergence occurring in different European languages.
