The research on the development of the city of Genoa is proposed as a model study on urban growth through the identification of architectural transformations defined in stages through the decennial census time for each single buildings. The survey deal with the issue of urban policies that have given rise to various types of settlement that are also characterized in function of public or private subject from the late nineteenth to the twentieth century.
