Title: Ecomuseums: terriorial identity and memory Abstract: The paper presents a recent subject of interest for the geographical survey and it propose a key of lecture that traces the international evolution of the ecomuseums, their functions, meanings and values taken from the point of view of the local population. After examining the European and Italian situation, even from a legislative point of view, the paper explains systematically the main objectives of eco-museums and displays the operational strategies of this dynamic subject of the different territories. Specifically, it examined the study case of the ecomuseum of Haute-Beauce, the first based in Canada and located in the south-eastern Quebec. It is an emblematic example of how it is conducted to identify a region starting from an ecomuseum project, which included among its aims the strengthening of regional cohesion.
