A numerical algorithm for reconstructing the differential emission measure from thermally interpreted bremsstrahlung photon spectra is introduced. The method is based on the Tikhonov regularization theory for solving ill-posed in- verse problems and exploits ’ad hoc’ boundary conditions to improve the restora- tion accuracy. A discussion of the applicability limitations of the method is per- formed for both simulated data and real photon spectra recorded by RHESSI.
