Logistics, as a parallel flow of materials and information, is hardly influenced by the new economy revolution. Beyond any exasperated fashion, that will soon reveal his speculative flimsiness, the striking effect of net economy on supply chains structure, management and efficiency is meant to develop and strengthen. This paper intends to provide an articulate framework in order to explain the phenomenon on both sides of demand and supply of logistics services. First, it analyses the growing complexity and the crucial role of logistics inside the companies. Than, it reviews the development paths of logistics operators in order to define features and success factors emerging when considering the last trends.
