In the present paper the variations and interactions of variables concerning both seawater and suspended matter in the Taranto Sea System are presented. The variables examined were: temperature, salinity, chl-a, dry weight and organic matter. Sampling was carried out from 1996 to 2003 at nine stations. The data obtained showed taht the basins are characterized by different levels of confinement and eutrophication taht are higher moving from the Mar Grande basin to the innermost inlet of the Mar Piccolo basin.

Abstract

In the present paper the variations and interactions of variables concerning both seawater and suspended matter in the Taranto Sea System are presented. The variables examined were: temperature, salinity, chl-a, dry weight and organic matter. Sampling was carried out from 1996 to 2003 at nine stations. The data obtained showed taht the basins are characterized by different levels of confinement and eutrophication taht are higher moving from the Mar Grande basin to the innermost inlet of the Mar Piccolo basin.
