Four GPS campaigns were performed on the section Bolzano - Reggio Emilia of the European Geotraverse in 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992. Analysis of the results their cartesian components is about 10-6. We study the reason of this discrepancy starting from the operational GPS reference system, defined by ephemerides, and we suggest a method to improve the estimates of the cartesian components (therefore the estimates of points coordinates too) in GPS networks. We apply the method to the data collected in the quoted campaigns by the program NETGPS implemented to this aim, and we show its good results.

Abstract

Four GPS campaigns were performed on the section Bolzano - Reggio Emilia of the European Geotraverse in 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992. Analysis of the results their cartesian components is about 10-6. We study the reason of this discrepancy starting from the operational GPS reference system, defined by ephemerides, and we suggest a method to improve the estimates of the cartesian components (therefore the estimates of points coordinates too) in GPS networks. We apply the method to the data collected in the quoted campaigns by the program NETGPS implemented to this aim, and we show its good results.
