The paper proposes a critical reflection on the concept of reconstruction and its different meanings, past, present, and future. Starting from the work of the international ICOMOS experts’ group about the post-hammer construction1, I share here some critical thoughts on ‘Reconstruction’. However, reconstruction has different meanings and can be supported by different reasons, directed towards various aims, leading to different outcomes. It's important, therefore, to investigate the meanings of the words we use.
