Dalle periferie del fascismo. Le italiane scrivono al caudillo. 1936-1939

This study aims to analyze the letters sent by Italian women to Francisco Franco during the Spanish civil war. They are subaltern voices that challenge hierarchical and social relationships through communication directed to the center of power, created for obtain something. Through the languages of deference and supplication they request information about the fate of their husbands or request financial assistance from the Spanish government. Their testimonies show the daily economic difficulties but at the same time reveal their determination in the fight. The first objective is to reflect on the positioning and self-representation of the authors. The second objective is to investigate fascist participation in the Spanish civil war from a female and asymmetric perspective compared to hegemonic power. We also want to demonstrate the reception or resistance to the images of power spread by the regime and offer elements for a better problematization of women during fascism.
