The Latin treatise had been the object of particular interest in the Florence of Cosimo the Elder and his nephew Lorenzo the Magnifi cent, before entering the pages of Giorgio Vasari’s Lives in the 1568 edition thanks to Giovanni Battista Adriani’s Lettera, which summarised the history of the art of Antiquity
