Abstract

Nature-based solutions are becoming increasingly relevant to support cities’ strategies implementation towards climate change adaptation. Adaptation strategies (and NBS as well), indeed, require a place-based approach that usually hinders best-practices transfer and reproduction. The aim of the present paper is to define a context-based approach to set NBS adaptation actions into predefined coupled scenarios. Couples are made of IPCC RCP emissions and climate scenarios and European Commission Imaginaries on socio-political and economic structures. To identify main criticalities the selected methodology is the problem-based learning approach: starting from territorial issues in terms of climate change response, solutions must be found. This proxy was applied within the project The potential of NBS for water resources management in mediterranean medium-sized cities in the context of climate change-Erasmus Blended Intensive Program to Girona (Spain) urban centre, where in the last years two main problems emerged: urban floodings and heat islands.
