In addressing Juan Ruiz Manero's theory of legal principles, the paper analyzes several situations in which legal gaps are created by legal principles in order to refute Ruiz Manero's thesis that legal principles make law complete. In particular, it argues that legal principles lead to different types of higher-order legal gaps.
