The chapter, after providing an overview of the Capital Markets Union (CMU) plan with a focus on actions in favour of small and medium enterprises and their financing, analyses financial-return crowdfunding in comparison with traditional forms of finance and other alternative funding methods touched upon by the Capital Markets Union Plan, as well as identifies the related main legal issues raised by the Crowdfunding Regulation, which will be discussed in further details in other chapters. Finally, it will assess the coherence of the resulting overall framework.
