This paper aims to explore the relationship between metaphorical expressions in specialised discourses, the expression of scientific paradigms and the ideological and cultural issues underlying terminological metaphors. Particular attention is paid to the phenomena of ‘nomadism’ of these paradigmatic metaphors from one specialised field to another, and to the linguistic and semiotic dynamics that this transfer implies.
