Unpublished notes by Vasari for the frescoes in the Salone dei Cinquecento (Palazzo Vecchio, Florence) The essay presents some unpublished annotations (kept by the ms. 2133, V, c. 300r, Florence, Biblioteca Riccardiana) written by Giorgio Vasari to set up the program of the frescoes in the “Sala Grande” of Palazzo Vecchio, completed between 1563 and 1571. After a careful examination of the notes and the comparison with the sources cited, it is possible to hypothesize their dating to the initial phase of this period, that is to the first months of 1563.
